I love to paint scenes the are evocative of a time in rural america that is disappearing. This scene of an old abandoned church that is slowly falling into disrepair really caught my attention. I can imagine a time when this place was the hub of activity in this rural community. I named this piece "Gathered" because I was reminded of a verse in the gospel of Matthew...."For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." I hope that this painting pays homage to those who, however few, still "gather" in in His name. Matthew 18:20
About Tim Oliver
Tim Oliver is a Landscape Architect and owner of a design/build landscape firm in Lubbock, Texas. He graduated with a Bachelors degree in landscape architecture in 1983 from Texas Tech University. Tim has always enjoyed drawing and sketching and in recent years has developed a love of the watercolor medium. He is passionate about communicating the character and emotion of a place through on-location or "en plein air" sketching and painting.
